Submit School of Isolated and Distance Education Moodle video assignment
Sometimes you may be asked to submit a video assignment in Moodle. It should be very easy, although there are some things to know before you start.
Uploading your video assignment
Sometimes you will be asked to submit a video assignment in Moodle. A plugin called Medial will be used to help you do this.
- Step 1
Find the video assignment and click on it. Note that it will have a unique name:
– Video Assignment - Step 2
Click Add submission:
– Click: Add Submission
– Press on the green button: Add Media
– Follow the steps Medical
– Click Save changes - Step 3
Click Add Media:
– Click Add Submission
– Tap on the green button: Add Media
– Follow the steps in medical
– Click Save changes
Big note about video
If you are uploading a video, Medial will do its best to size and compress the video so that it can be displayed and viewed. But you still have to get the video from your computer to Medial.
Videos tend to be big files. That might mean a very large upload. If you have fast broadband at home, you probably won’t have a problem. If you’re trying to move a 500 Mb file from a school you might need to think of another way probably by reducing its size before you upload it.
Check the options for saving your video file in the application you used to make it. Remember, the smaller, the better.
How to Managing SIDE emails in Moodle ?
SIDE emails may come from teachers, students or forum notifications. There are several ways in which you can manage the emails you receive from SIDE.

- Another option within Moodle, is to change the way in which you receive email notifications from Moodle forums. This is called your email digest:

– No digest: You will receive one e-mail per forum post.
– Digest complete posts: You will receive one digest e-mail per day containing the complete contents of each forum post.
– Digest subjects only: You will receive one digest e-mail per day containing just the subject of each forum post.

School of Isolated and Distance Education Parent Connect
SIDE is using Connect as an additional means of communicating with parents and gives you access to certain information related to your child’s education on SIDE.
If not already registered, a ‘Parent Number’ (P number) will be assigned to a parent with a valid email address in the system. If you have multiple children, you only need one admission, even if your children attend different public schools. Parents with valid P numbers will receive notices via email via school space and also receive messages from teachers.
As a parent, when you log in to Connect, you will have access to the following information:
- The School Space, where previous notices are stored.
- The classes in which your child is enrolled.
- Assessment and course outlines for each mainstream secondary subject in which your child is enrolled.
- Assessment results for mainstream secondary subjects.
- Interim and semester reports for your child.
If you have children in other schools who are already using Connect, you may be familiar with some of the additional uses of Connect, such as submission and returning students’ work. SIDE will continue to use Moodle for these tasks.
In addition to being able to log in to connect to any Internet-enabled device, you may also receive a notice from Connect that will be sent to your phone as an email or notification. A free app called Connect Now can be downloaded from Google Play or the Apple App Store and will let you receive a Connect Notice as a push notification.
